THEFT: At 8:18 p.m. a Volvo belonging to a 65-year-old Mercer Island man was stolen from a service center in the 2700 block of 80th Avenue S.E. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside.

JUNE 29

FRAUD: At 9:26 a.m. an 87-year-old Mercer Island resident reported that his credit card had been fraudulently used a number of times between June 18 and June 21. The card had unauthorized purchases from Buy Buy of Totowa, N.J., and from Overstock.com.

JUNE 30

FRAUD: At 2:46 p.m. the treasurer of the Mercer Island Rotary Club reported that someone had created and attempted to cash a fraudulent check for the Rotary’s business account. However, the bank refused the check.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: At 10:50 a.m. a 2002 BMW “T-boned” a 2008 Volvo as the BMW attempted to make a left-hand turn from Merrimount Drive onto Island Crest Way. The driver of the BMW failed to yield to the Volvo as it made a left-hand turn onto Merrimount Drive from Island Crest Way, according to the police report. No one was injured in the incident.

JULY 1

THEFT: At 7:34 p.m. a resident of the 2700 block of 70th Avenue reported a motion detector security camera stolen from his home. The resident installed the Swann wide-angle security camera “because he has had people drive through his yard and tear up his lawn three times recently,” according to the police report. The camera only operated at night and was not on at the time of the theft.

GRAFFITI: At 10:50 a.m. the department received a report of graffiti on the playground equipment at West Mercer Elementary School.
