DRUG BUST: At 5:30 p.m. police responded to a call of “someone being run over by a car” in the 4000 block of Island Crest Way. Upon arrival, police saw one individual running from the scene and found and detained the suspect, in addition to three others. All four minors, ages 15 to 16, admitted to “coming to Mercer Island to buy drugs.” The teens came from Kirkland, Bellevue and Clyde Hill. A car chase had ensued after the teens stole drugs from the dealer, who jumped onto the hood of the teens’ car while stopped at a stoplight. The dealer fell from the vehicle and may have been hit by the car. Police were unable to find the dealer. The teens were processed and released to their parents. Police obtained a search warrant and found 15.26 grams of marijuana in the teens’ car.

DRUGS: At 9:17 p.m. police received a report of some juveniles smoking pot at Luther Burbank Park. Upon investigation, police found one suspect, an 18-year-old Mercer Island man. As they approached the suspect, “he dropped a glass pipe and a marijuana grinder.” The teen was taken into custody and transported to the Mercer Island Police Department where he was processed, cited for possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana and released.
JUNE 16
TRAFFIC OFFENSE: Four bicyclists reported a June 16 incident involving a silver 2005 Dodge van. They reported that the driver intentionally taunted the riding group by driving so close as to make the riders cycle single file on the far right-hand side of the road while traveling west in the 9600 block of 36th Street. “The driver’s passenger side of his vehicle came within inches of making contact with the bicyclists,” according to the report. The driver, a 79-year-old man from Bellevue, was cited with one count of reckless driving.
THEFT: At 4:32 p.m. a 19-year-old and a 16-year-old, both of Mercer Island, were caught while attempting to steal two bottles of wine from the North end QFC store. Both were cited for theft in the third degree and released.
JUNE 17
DRUGS: A 19-year-old Mercer Island man was arrested for possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana at 2:13 a.m. Police confiscated a “bag of green vegetable matter suspected to be marijuana” and a water pipe, “used in consuming the green vegetable matter suspected to be marijuana.”
