Accident

Officers responded to a two-car accident in the 3000 block of 81st Place S.E. on Feb. 22. According to the police report, one vehicle struck a parked car with a man passed out in the driver’s seat. The officer arrived to find the suspect sleeping in his vehicle with the engine running and the key in the ignition. The car was blocking the roadway. The suspect, a Mercer Island man, woke up and admitted that he had been drinking the night before. He failed a sobriety and blood alcohol test. He was arrested and released to his sober brother. The case was forwarded to the city prosecutor for filing.

Arrests

An officer observed a car parked at Clarke Beach whose driver was a possible warrant subject on Feb. 22. The officer contacted and identified the subject. The Des Moines man had a misdemeanor and felony warrant out for his arrest. He was turned over to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Police arrested a Mercer Island man for driving with a suspended license in the 7700 block of North Mercer Way on Feb. 17. According to the police report, the subject was arrested for a traffic offense.

Police arrested an Arlington man for driving with a suspended license on Feb. 22 in the 7800 block of S.E. 27th Street. According to the incident report, the man was pulled over after a computer check revealed the offense. He was arrested and some prescription pills were located on him. No charges were made for possession of the pills.

A man living in the 3800 block of East Mercer Way reported that an unknown driver struck his boat trailer, pushing it into the side of his garage on Feb. 22. According to the police report, both the trailer and the garage were damaged.

A Ballard man was arrested for driving with a suspended license in the 2200 block of West Mercer Way on Feb. 22. According to the police report, the man was stopped for a vehicle equipment violation. He was arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail.

A Federal Way man was arrested for drunk driving in the 8500 block of North Mercer Way on Feb. 24 when he was pulled over for speeding. He also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Fraud

A 61-year-old Island man noticed that an unauthorized charge had been made to his VISA card on Feb. 6. The amount charged was not reported.

Theft

An Island couple living in the 7200 block of S.E. 36th Street reported that their house was burgled on Feb. 24. According to the incident report, the couple came home at 3:15 p.m. and found the front door open, a back window broken and property stolen, including TVs, a computer, various jewelry, a picture frame and perfume. Fingerprints and a blood sample were collected at the scene.

A teenage girl living in the 5200 block of Forest Avenue S.E. reported that somebody stole two cell phones, an iTouch and a laptop computer from her house during a small party that she hosted on Feb. 22. According to the police report, the crimes occurred between 10:30 and 11 p.m. The teenager’s parents were reportedly out to dinner when the theft happened.

A man living in the 6800 block of West Mercer Way reported that a saber saw and circular saw were stolen from his residence on Feb. 22. According to the incident report, the man noticed an unknown vehicle near his open garage about three weeks ago and believes that the thief may be the owner of that car. The total lost value is $380.

Dog fights

Two dogs got into a fight at the Luther Burbank dog park on Feb. 22. According to the report, the dog owners tried to break up the fight and one owner was bitten on the hand. One of the dogs had a deep bite wound on its neck.

A Jack Russell terrier got away from its owner and attacked a Chihuahua near the playground at Luther Burbank Park on Feb. 22. According to the incident report, there were no visible signs of injury to the Chihuahua.

Vandalism

A man living in the 8300 block of Woodbrook Lane reported that somebody threw a rock through his garage window on Feb. 21. According to the incident report, the homeowners were at church when the incident occurred. They noticed the damage when they returned home. One of the children in the neighborhood is suspected.

An Island woman reported that the window of her car was shattered while it was parked on the side of 72nd Avenue S.E. on Feb. 22. The car was parked in the 2700 block overnight. Nothing was reported stolen, and the car did not seem to have been rummaged through.
