April 27 Theft: An Island man living in the 7800 block of S.E. 28th Street reported that his motorcycle license plate was stolen on April 27. According to the police report, the crime occurred between Feb. 1 and Feb. 23. The man’s motorcycle was parked in the lowest, secured parking deck at the Island Square Apartments. Fraud: An unidentified person opened a bank account in a New Jersey branch of Bank of America using an Island man’s name, address and social security number. According to the police report, the crime occurred sometime between April 1 and April 27. Bank personnel called the victim to verify the account and were informed that it was fraudulent. April 28 Fight: An Island man called police to report that two men were fighting in Mercerdale Park. According to the police report, officers located the two men in the 3000 block of 77th Avenue S.E. One man was a North-end QFC security employee who said he had witnessed the suspect steal some items from the store. The security officer followed the man outside, where a short foot chase and fight ensued. The suspect, a minor, was handcuffed and arrested for possession of alcohol. He was booked into the Issaquah Jail.

April 27

April 29

Collision: A two-car accident occurred at the intersection of West Mercer Way and Merrimount Drive. According to the police report, a woman was driving west on Merrimount Drive, approaching the intersection of West Mercer Way. She stopped at the sign and then proceeded onto West Mercer Way and struck an oncoming car, sending the vehicle spinning into a telephone pole. The woman said that she did not see the oncoming car. No injuries were reported.

Fender-bender: A three-car fender-bender occurred along Island Crest Way. According to the police report, an Island woman stated that she was stopped in the road, trying to make a left turn onto Parkside Lane when she was struck from behind by another car. The impact pushed her into the car directly ahead. The driver who struck the woman stated that he had reached up to close his sunroof and did not notice the woman stop ahead of him. No injuries were reported.

May 3

Arrest: Police arrested a 23-year-old Island female for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. According to the police report, the woman was driving in the 7800 block of S.E. 27th Street. An officer scanned her plates and realized that she was driving with a revoked license and a warrant out for her arrest. The warrant was confirmed and the woman was arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail. The amount of bail is $1,000.

Arrest: Police arrested an Island man for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. According to the report, an officer pulled the man over in the 2300 block of West Mercer Way. The subject had a warrant out with the Issaquah Jail, where he was transported following his arrest.

Burglary: A man living in the 6400 block of East Mercer Way reported that his home was burgled. According to the police report, the suspects entered one of two unlocked main doors to the house. They stole two guitars, a 15-watt amplifier, a white wake board and autographed baseball cards. There was no sign of forced entry.

May 4

Car prowl: An Island woman reported that her Honda Civic was prowled sometime between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. According to the police report, the car was parked, locked, at the woman’s residence in the 3800 block of 80th Ave. S.E. The victim found all doors locked except for the front driver’s side. The inner workings of the lock were damaged. Nothing of value was stolen from the car.

Arrest: Police arrested a Missouri man for an outside felony warrant. According to the police report, the subject was arrested on a confirmed warrant from St. Louis County, Miss., with full extradition. The man was booked into the King County Jail.

Theft: A man living in the 8500 block of S.E. 73rd Street reported that his son’s Trek mountain bike was stolen from the family’s open garage at about 8 p.m. The garage from which the bike was taken had been left open much of the time.

May 5

Burglary: A group of off-Island residents broke into a home in the 7400 block of West Mercer Way. According to the incident report, two women and three men entered the home, forcing the door open with an unknown object. They then stole a number of electronic property, including laptops, a keyboard and other private items.

May 6

Theft: An unknown person stole a men’s 21-speed bicycle from the victim’s driveway. According to the police report, the theft happened at the victim’s residence in the 3700 block of 77th Place S.E.

May 9

Pedestrian hit: A Lakewood man struck a pedestrian working on a fence along the side of Ferncroft Road. According to the incident report, the Lakewood resident was driving his Ford Rio around the curve when he struck the Islander near his residence. The impact knocked the man to the ground. The right tires of the car ran over the legs of the pedestrian. The driver stated that he did not see the man and only realized that he struck him upon impact. The extent of the man’s injuries were not reported.

Fender-bender: A two-car traffic accident took place along Island Crest Way. According to the police report, a man said he was stopped at the intersection of S.E. 59th Street and Island Crest Way, attempting to make a left turn but waiting for traffic when another car slammed into the rear of his vehicle. The woman driving the second car said that she was headed south bound on Island Crest Way and saw some friends standing at the corner of the intersection. She said this may have distracted her because when she brought her eyes back to the road her foot hit the gas instead of the brake before colliding with the car in front of her. Both cars sustained damages. No injuries were reported.

May 11

Burglary: Unknown suspects broke into a house in the 7200 block of East Mercer Way. According to the police report, the suspects took a bottle of McCormick’s vodka. They broke a window to gain entrance to the home. The estimated damage to the window is $500.
