On July 4 only, “safe and sane” fireworks may be discharged legally on Mercer Island from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with restrictions for safety and the consideration of others in place, according to the city. Fireworks are prohibited in all city parks and on school district properties, and only certain fireworks may be used.
