Due to inclement weather in the region, the Mercer Island School District has closed all of its schools on Dec. 1, according to its website and social media platforms.
In addition, the district has canceled all of its programs, preschool, transporation, after-school activities and athletics today.
In a pop-up message on the district site, administrators explained that they decided to shutter the schools today because: “The snow impacted our preparations around our schools this morning; school districts around our region are closing today due to the weather, which impacts our staff; and out of an abundance of caution due to the conflicting weather forecasts for the remainder of today.”
Administrators will continue to monitor weather conditions and will apprise the school community of any schedule changes for Dec. 2 through email, text, website and social media platforms.
