See the first full-length, high-definition documentary film ever made about legendary conservationist Aldo Leopold and his environmental legacy at 6:30 p.m. on May 22 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. Green Fire is about Leopold’s extraordinary career, and how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. It also illustrates how Leopold’s vision of a community that cares about both people and land continues to inform and inspire people across the country and around the world, highlighting modern projects that put Leopold’s land ethic in action in a multitude of ways.
Aldo Leopold’s daughter, Estella Leopold, professor emeritus in biology at the University of Washington, will introduce the show. Estella, like her siblings, has carried on the work of their illustrious father and has won international awards for her lifetime achievements in biology.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of Luther Burbank Park.
