Mercer Island resident Isabel Jamerson, a senior at The Bush School, recently received the Congressional Award Silver Medal from Congressman Dave Reichert, R-WA, 8th District.
For the past four years, Jamerson has spent over 750 hours in volunteer community service, personal development and physical fitness. Her community service has been primarily focused on gleaning donated produce from the Mercer Island Farmers Market for MIYFS Food Bank, and serving weekly at the Cherry Street NW Harvest Food Bank.
This award represents Congress’ highest award for young people, and was established in 1979 by the Congressional Award Act.
