Mercer Island wins final double dual meet of regular season | Girls prep swimming

The Mercer Island girls swimming team won the final meet of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The Islanders won with a score of 137, Newport was second with 130, Inglemoor was third with 55 and Juanita was fourth with 49.

The Mercer Island girls swimming team won the final meet of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The Islanders won with a score of 137, Newport was second with 130, Inglemoor was third with 55 and Juanita was fourth with 49.

The Islanders team of Alex Seidel, Leah Fisk, Sabrina Kwan and Christina Williamson won the 200 medley relay in 1:53.48. Danielle Dieparine took the top spot in the 200 freestyle event, finishing with a 2:00.08 time, Caitlin Cox was second in 2:00.11 and Kristin Hoffman was third in 2:03.41.

Fisk won the 200 individual medley race, finishing in 2:16.54, while Emily Olsen was second in 2:17.25. Kwan was first in the 50 freestyle in 25.42, Williamson was third and Margaret Seaton finished in fourth place.

Diver Meg Lindsay was first overall in the diving competition, earning 201.40 points, while Olivia Cera was third with 153.90 points and Hadley Michaels was fourth with 141.75.

In the 100 butterfly race, Kwan was first in 56.62, Masami Cookson finished second in 1:02.05 and Emily Koksu was third in 1:03.65.

Deiparine was second overall in the 100 freestyle race, Hoffman was third and Williamson finished in fifth place.

Mercer Island’s Olsen won the 500 freestyle marathon, taking the title with a 5:24.26 time, while Angela Riggins was second overall in 5:24.89. Lindsay White finished in fourth place in 5:50.99.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Deiparine, Cookson, Kwan and Williamson teamed up to win in 1:44.23.

Cox earned the individual title in the 100 backstroke race with a final time of 1:00.24, while teammate Maddie Larkin was second in 1:03.32 and Kira Godfred finished fourth in 1:06.02. Fisk won the 100 breast stroke race in 1:11.52, followed by Seidel in second and Natalie Marques in third.

Cookson, Hoffman, Deiparine and Cox won the 400 freestyle relay race for Mercer Island win 3:45.87.

The Islanders begin the post season with the KingCo meet this weekend. The preliminary races will take place on Friday afternoon at the University of Washington swimming pool. The finals will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27.
