Mercer Islander to premiere original play next week | Community news

Islander Allison Ross, a senior majoring in Comparative Literature/Cinema Studies and Classical Studies at the University of Washington, will premiere her play, “Will’s Last Writ,” a “gender-bending romantic farce exploring Bill Shakespeare’s concealed sexuality, written in the Bard’s voice.”

Islander Allison Ross, a senior majoring in Comparative Literature/Cinema Studies and Classical Studies at the University of Washington, will premiere her play, “Will’s Last Writ,” a “gender-bending romantic farce exploring Bill Shakespeare’s concealed sexuality, written in the Bard’s voice.”

The play will enjoy a staged reading, in abridged form by the Undergraduate Theater Society as part of their New Works Festival. The current run time is about 90 minutes.

The shows are set for 2 p.m., May 18, and 7:30 p.m., May 19, in the Cabaret Theatre (Hutchinson 205) at the UW.
