The city will be upgrading the Mercerdale Park playground this spring with new equipment, drainage and a rubber play surface. The community is invited to offer ideas and opinions at a virtual public meeting from 7-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. Participants will interact online with city staff and a playground specialist to learn about the choices for new equipment.
The existing playground is 19 years old and the equipment is at the end of its useful life; the groundcover chips have also broken down and are clogging the drainage system. The level of the play surface will be raised to meet the top of the existing concrete edging to improve accessibility, but the edging, seating and landscaping will remain in place.
