Mercer Islanders who love parks and want to learn more about forest restoration can join the forest steward orientation from 5-7 p.m. on April 10 at Luther Burbank Park.
At this free workshop, residents can learn essential skills to restore native habitats, manage invasive species and lead volunteer work parties. Stewards “adopt” sections of parkland to care for year-round.
Interested community members can fill out an application and email it to jordan.fischer@mercerisland.gov. Visit the city’s forest steward orientation webpage at: https://www.mercerisland.gov/parksrec/page/forest-steward-orientation-luther-burbank-park.
