Boys golf earns win over Interlake; girls soccer improves to 3-0.

Boys golf earns win over Interlake

Mercer Island boys golf scored its first meet win of the season, beating Interlake 192-214 Thursday afternoon at Twin Rivers Golf Course.

No individual scores were reported. Mercer Island will take on Sammamish at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bellevue Golf Course.

Volleyball sweeps Prep

Mercer Island volleyball scored its second non-league win of the week, beating Seattle Prep 25-15, 25-23, 25-6 Thursday night at MIHS.

Jemma Yeadon led the Islanders with 17 kills, 10 digs, two blocks and three aces. Kelly Behrbaum posted 10 kills, a block and an ace, Tess Hendelman had 16 digs and two aces, and Natalie Robinson had 40 assists, four kills, eight digs and a block for Mercer Island.

Next, the Islanders will take on Liberty at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty High School.

Girls soccer improves to 3-0

Mercer Island girls soccer remained undefeated with a 4-1 victory over Lynnwood Thursday night at Lynnwood High School.

Mercer Island jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the half and never looked back. Namya Malik and Camryn Steiner each registered one goal and one assist for the Islanders. Taylor Krause and Jordan Snyder also scored for Mercer Island. Megan Lord helped Lynnwood avoid the shutout with a goal in the 55th minute.

Mercer Island will take on Newport at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Newport High School.
