The Mercer Island Police Department will hold a Paws on Patrol virtual event at 6 p.m. March 10.
Officers Anna Ormsby and Samantha Hammer will run the community awareness-based crime prevention meeting. Paws on Patrol features Island residents uniting to walk their dogs and maintain helpful vigilance throughout the community.

With catalytic converter thefts on the rise across the nation, the Mercer Island Police Department gives the following tips on how to potentially prevent the crime from occurring:
* Park in well-lit areas
* Choose parking spaces with good visibility
* Park near building entrances when possible
* Ensure cars alarm are engaged
Catalytic converters, which are part of a vehicle’s exhaust system, are made from valuable metals that react with fumes to help reduce emissions.
