Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) is offering a new national program called Death Cafe — a discussion group where everyone is welcome to come together to have an open and compassionate discussion about death and dying — from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on March 28 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.
“The program’s goal is to decrease stigma around death, increase awareness of issues surrounding death/dying, and to help people make the most of their lives,” according to the event flier, which adds that it is not a support group or group counseling.
Space is limited and registration is required: Call the MIYFS confidential voicemail at 206-275-7657 or email miyfs@mercerisland.gov.
Free coffee will be provided and it’s optional if attendees wish to bring something sweet to share.
