For anyone stumbling across the scene in the back parking lot at Mercer Island High School on Friday morning, it was a disturbing scene. Two cars, crumpled as if hit head on with people and blood surrounding the scene.
Students in the MIHS Drama 2 class depicted the chaos of an accident scene for the high school on Oct. 12, part of the school’s annual mock DUI.
The scene: the driver of one vehicle, who was drunk, was driving a group of friends when he swerved and hit another vehicle full of students head on. The impact of the crash sent one student through the windshield, another suffered a broken leg and yet another lay outside the vehicle.
Narrated by Scott Logsdon of the Mercer Island Fire Department, the fire department responded as they would in a real accident.
The event, which the school and department have put on for over 10 years, showcases the dangers of drinking and driving.
Members of the Drama 2 class who participated in the event include: Kaya McRuer, Jason McRuer, Allie Ritcey, Greg Callahan, Clayton Crawford, Chanarah Caupain, Andrew Padgett, Zoe Levin, Megan Guedel, Chris Goodwin, Anais Gralpois and Jay Rosenstein.
