Jan. 23
FRAUD:At 1:24 p.m., a woman in the 9600 block of SE 72nd St. reported that her email was hacked and she lost $50,000 in a fraudulent wire transfer to Dallas.
TRESPASS: A subject was trespassed from the Mercer Island Thrift Shop at 3:49 p.m. They had been in the store for five-and-a-half hours the previous day, and appeared to be in a mental-emotional state or under the influence. They returned the next day and displayed increasingly odd behavior, alarming other customers. Staff chose to trespass the person due to erratic behavior and the need by multiple staff members to keep them under observation while in the store.
CAR THEFT: A woman’s vehicle was reported stolen while she was shopping in the Thrift Shop at 4:41 p.m. A man was with her and came into the store looking for her, and store employees told him she was upstairs. He then walked out, got into the victim’s car and drove away. The victim didn’t really know the man but thought his name was “Carl.” An affidavit of the theft was signed and faxed to NORCOM for entry.
MORE FRAUD: A woman in the 8800 block of SE 47th Place said at 7:13 p.m. that her Amazon account was hacked, and her credit card was used to rent a van from Bandago out of San Francisco, for a loss of $533.

THEFT: An unsecured bicycle was reported stolen from a parking garage in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE at 1:09 p.m., for a loss of $800. The garage is locked overnight but opens at 7 a.m. The victim had noticed subjects casing the area, and suspected they may come back for his other bikes, which also weren’t secured.
MORE CAR THEFT: A vehicle was reported stolen from the lower level of the Mercer Island Park and Ride at 3:32 p.m.
Jan. 25
PROWLING: A dog carrier bag was reported stolen after a car prowl on Mercer Island at 9:32 a.m. The car was locked, and the rear window was shattered.
MORE PROWLING: A black duffel bag with gray polka dots containing a toothbrush, vitamins, running shoes, makeup, socks, and a variety of clothes was reported stolen after a car prowl in the 7800 block of SE 28th St. at 12:11 p.m. The rear passenger window of the car had been broken.
BURGLARY: At 6:17 p.m., a victim reported that their secured garage in the 8800 block of SE 74th Place was entered, and a bike was stolen.
