Nestle USA announced Thursday a recall of limited quantities of Nestle Nesquik Chocolate Powder in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters because of possible Salmonella contamination.
The recall is only for the chocolate powder, no other varieties have been affected.
The recall is because Omya Inc. which supplies ingredients to Nestle, recalled calcium carbonate, due to possible Salmonella contamination. Calcium carbonate is an ingredient in Nesquik.
All of the recalled containers were produced in early October 2012, and will have a best before date of Oct. 2014. Customers will a product in the recall can contact Nestle Customer Services at (800) 628-7679 for a full refund.
There have been no reports of illnesses.
