Meet author Sharon Kramis and her daughter, co-author, Julie Kramis Hearne, between 7 and 9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at Island Books. The duo will sign copies of their new cookbook, “Cast Iron Skillet-Big Flavors,” a new twist on their first book, “Cast Iron Skillet.”

Former Islanders Kramis (pictured above) and Hearne (right) promise to bring a whole world of spices, herbs and preparations to the kitchen. The recipes are sophisticated but easy, not fussy. Complimentary French wine and cheese tastings and information about Mercer Island’s sister city relationship with Thonon Les Bains, France, will also be available at this event, co-sponsored by the Mercer Island Sister City Association and Island Books.
