MI Children’s Hospital Guild

The Mercer Island Children’s Hospital Guild Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, at Cheryl Hansen’s home on Mercer Island, 6115 93rd Ave. S.E..

The Guild, which publishes the Mercer Island Directory through volunteer efforts, raised $167,420 for Seattle Children’s Hospital this past year. The Guild provides funds for uncompensated medical care.

Multicultural program wins grant

The Mercer Island Schools Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from the Norcliffe Foundation of Seattle. The funds were donated to the Multicultural Scholars Program, which educates high schoolers from Mercer Island and Franklin High School on Civil Rights issues. The highlight of the program is a summer trip to the Deep South, where students meet several pivotal activists in the Civil Rights movement.
