A Northwest Yeshiva High School rocketry team is heading to the Team America Rocketry Challenge in Virginia in May.

The program is the largest student rocket contest in the country and has been held for the last decade, helping students to learn about science, technology, engineering and match.

Representing Northwest Yeshiva will be Jessica Schwartz, Grace Almo, Itai Amon and Joel Jacobs, all seniors at the school.

This year a record 725 teams participated, with only the top 100 earning spots to compete in the final fly-off in The Plains in May.

Before heading east for the competition, the teams work to perfect their rockets, competing for the chance to win more than $60,000 in scholarships and to participate in NASA’s Student Launch Initiative.
