Occupants injured after objects strike vehicles

On the night of June 1, the Mercer Island Fire Department (MIFD) responded to two separate incidents on Interstate 90 of large rocks or pieces of concrete striking vehicles while traveling eastbound and westbound around the Mt. Baker Tunnel and Rainier Avenue exits, according to the MIFD Facebook page. In both cases, occupants were injured with one being transported to a local emergency room.
