Mercer Island Police Department officers recently arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant who is also a suspect in the theft of an expensive cache of power tools, according to a Facebook post.

The arrest took place several days after the theft victim reported to officers that thousands of dollars worth of tools were stolen from his work truck. The victim also provided surveillance footage that captured images of the suspect and their vehicle.

That footage came into play when officers spotted and then approached the suspect’s vehicle parked on the Island with two people inside and with numerous power tools in view.

After recognizing that one of the individuals was wearing the same clothes in the video, officers arrested the subject and the vehicle was impounded for further investigation and recovery of the stolen property.
