This is a planned monthly column to provide a “list” of opportunities for citizen engagement with the City of Mercer Island, Mercer Island City Council and Community Resources of interest. Content is based on announcements and presentations made at monthly city council Meetings. The following headlines are from the Feb. 4, 2025, city council meeting.

Opportunities to learn more, provide feedback and/or input:

• Public hearing to provide an opportunity to learn more about the city’s second reading relative to the recent legislative requirement changes for middle housing and accessory dwellings will be held at the city’s council meeting 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 4 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.

• It was noted that the Feb.18 City Council meeting has been cancelled, with the next meeting March 4.

Special events planned:

• Councilmember Ted Weinberg announced that his monthly opportunity for citizens to gather and share ideas and thoughts will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 15, at Toshi’s Teriyaki in the South End Shopping Center. He would appreciate RSVPs to tedweinberg@comcast.net.
