Mercer Island firefighters will be using their boots on Thursday, July 24, to help local adults and children with neuromuscular diseases in the 53rd annual “Fill the Boot” drive. Firefighters will be at 40th & Island Crest Way on Mercer Island from 7 to 11 a.m. Motorists are encouraged to donate cash and checks to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The money raised will support research, clinic services, equipment and a week-long summer camp for kids. “Fill the Boot” events throughout King County will contribute more than $150,000 to these services this year alone.
