Paintball rounds mistaken for gunshots | Mercer Island police blotter

Sept. 2

Weapons complaint: A resident in the 7500 block of Southeast 71st Street reported hearing gunshots and seeing his neighbors firing a rifle in their own backyard. Officers contacted the neighbors and confirmed they were only shooting their paintball guns.

Theft: Someone stole a television set that was delivered on the porch to a resident in the 2400 block of 76th Avenue Southeast.

Aug. 31

Vehicle prowl: A resident reported that someone prowled their vehicle that was parked in the 8200 block of Southeast 30th Place.

Fraud: A resident in the 2900 block of 72nd Avenue Southeast reported that someone opened a checking account using the resident’s name and overdrew the account.

Aug. 30

Possible drug use: A caller reported seeing subjects possibly using drugs while situated in a greenbelt in the 3600 block of 76th Place Southeast. Officers searched the area and didn’t locate anyone.

Malicious mischief: A gas station employee in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street discovered that someone smashed a store window overnight.

Aug. 29

Theft: Someone stole an unsecured bike that an owner left in a carport in the 4300 block of 91st Avenue Southeast.
