April 28

Littering: At 10:57 a.m., a male victim reported that in the 2700 block of 80th Avenue Southeast, a male suspect had abandoned four used snow tires by their dumpsters sometime between 1:55 p.m. April 27 and 5:30 a.m. April 28. The suspect’s vehicle is a maroon Honda Ridgeline with a missing front plate. The victim shared security footage with police.

Burglary: After their house in the 8400 block of 85th Avenue Southeast was broken into, a victim had a handgun, jewelry and identification documents stolen between 3 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

April 27

Trespass: A known male suspect was trespassed from the Rite Aid and QFC in the 8400 block of Southeast 68th Street between 9:20 and 10:24 a.m. for allegedly stealing property. The male suspect was aware of the trespass from the two locations; he signed a trespass document, which is in place for the next year.

Car prowl: It was reported at around 9:50 a.m. that a victim’s pizza trailer in the 2800 block of 78th Avenue Southeast was broken into. Some $1,730 in property was stolen. According to the victim, the trailer was accessed using codes only employees would know. An employee fired from the business’s location on April 26 is a potential suspect. The owner, who has been contacted, has security footage that could potentially identify the suspect.

April 26

Theft: In the 3400 block of 80th Avenue Southeast, at 9:09 a.m., a victim reported that their mailbox was pulled out from the ground and that an unknown amount of mail was stolen. Damage costs are estimated at $500.

Theft: An unknown female suspect tried to steal mail from an empty mailbox in the 3700 block of Gallagher Hill Road around 9:25 a.m. No damage was incurred.

Theft: At 9:50 a.m., it was reported that in the 8400 block of Southeast 68th Street, a restaurant’s $1,500 “pizza suit,” which is used for advertising, was stolen after it was left outside the business the previous evening.

Malicious mischief: At around 11:49 a.m., a female victim in the 3800 block of 82nd Avenue Southeast reported that someone had damaged her locking roadside mailbox the previous evening in an attempt to open it. The victim doesn’t think anything of value was taken out of the box.

Theft: A victim living in the 8200 block of Southeast 30th Place reported that sometime between 3 p.m. April 25 and 1 p.m. April 26, three mailboxes in the area had been broken into. The victim and their neighbors had an unknown amount of mail, and one package, stolen. The reporting party shared the case report number with their neighbors. Collectively, the thefts have resulted in $500 in damages to the mailboxes.

Theft: At 5:42 p.m., a victim reported that between 3 p.m. April 19 and 5 p.m. April 26, their $1,300 electric bike was stolen from a parking garage in the 7500 block of Southeast 29th Street.

Theft: At 6:42 p.m., it was reported that a female victim’s mailbox in the 3600 block of 81st Avenue Southeast was broken into and damaged. A check made out to the victim was taken. There is no camera footage documenting the incident.

Malicious mischief: At 7:05 p.m., it was reported that between 8 p.m. April 25 and 12:50 a.m. April 26, a mailbox in the 8300 block of Southeast 30th Place was damaged. No mail was stolen. Two masks, discovered in the yards of the reporting party and their neighbor, were found.

Theft: At 8:45 p.m., it was reported that a victim’s mailbox in the 8000 block of Southeast 36th Street was broken into. A UW scholarship check amounting to $700 was stolen.

April 25

Theft: A male victim reported at 7:35 p.m. that his bicycle was stolen from work in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast.

Fraud: At 1:12 p.m., in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue Southeast, it was reported that a fake $100 bill had been passed around by an unidentified female suspect at the New Seasons Market.

April 24

Theft: At 1:21 a.m., in the 4300 block of 89th Avenue Southeast, a male victim had two pairs of shoes stolen by a female suspect from his front porch. The victim provided the Mercer Island Police Department with Ring doorbell footage of the situation.

Malicious mischief: In the 4300 block of 87th Avenue Southeast, several mailboxes were broken into between 3 p.m. on April 24 and 10:30 a.m. on April 25. There is no video surveillance documenting the thefts.

Found property: A bag of clothing was discovered near trail stairs in the 3200 block of 88th Avenue Southeast at around 3:49 p.m.

Theft: Between 4 p.m. April 24 and 11:58 a.m. April 25, several victims in the 8600 block of Southeast 45th Street had their mailboxes broken into. Differing amounts of mail were potentially taken from each subject. There is possible surveillance footage available from a couple of victim locations.

April 20

Burglary: At 1:29 a.m., in the 9000 block of Southeast 40th Street, a house was broken into while its owners slept. After the suspects bound the homeowners, the suspects stole phones, watches, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of money.

Car theft: At 10:35 a.m., in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street, a woman reported that her vehicle had been stolen from the North QFC parking lot. The subject said that she had lost her keys while shopping at the location on April 17. After not being able to locate them, she alerted QFC while continuing to look for the keys for the next few days. QFC reported that the woman’s vehicle was still parked on April 19 and that it was not towed. QFC said that it does not have security footage.

April 16

Theft: At 1:30 p.m., in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street, a male suspect was witnessed by an officer pushing a shopping cart full of groceries amounting to some $494.53. The suspect initially claimed that he had paid for the items but did not have a receipt. He also said that he did not know where he purchased the items. Then he said he stole the items from QFC because he was hungry. The subject was arrested, then subsequently released. His theft citation was forwarded to the prosecutor.
