A cell phone was stolen from a glove compartment during a car prowl that occurred in the 8400 block of Benotho Place, the night of July 30.

Nearly $3,000 worth of electronics was stolen from an unlocked car in the 7400 block of 81st Place S.E., the night of July 30. According to the police report, a lap top computer, MP3 player and numerous accessories were stolen from the car.

Fraud

Multiple charges totaling about $4,150 appeared on two credit cards owned by a 68-year-old Islander, the day after she lost her wallet in the Walgreens’ parking lot in the Town Center on July 11.

Thefts

An unknown suspect pumped $69.07 worth of gas at the South end Chevron and left without paying at 5:35 p.m. on July 27.

A 42-year-old Island resident was caught stealing a bicycle and children’s extender from the Mercer Island Thrift Shop around 3:30 p.m. on July 27. According to the incident report, a witness saw the suspect place the bike and extender onto her minivan and drive off. The woman returned the stolen items after police located and interviewed her.

A 49-year-old Renton woman is suspected of stealing nearly $50,000 worth of jewelry from a home in the 8200 block of West Mercer Way between July 16 and 24. According to the police report, the 45-year-old victim reported that a diamond engagement ring, two sets of diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet were stolen.

Arrests

An 18-year-old Island resident was arrested for malicious mischief and domestic violence after she broke a window at her boyfriend’s home in the 7600 block of S.E. 40th Street around midnight on July 27.

A 22-year-old Island resident was arrested in the 4100 block of Boulevard Place on a felony escape warrant since he was out of jail without getting bail around 10:30 p.m. on July 26. According to the police report, the suspect was taken to Overlake Hospital for treatment of injuries that he suffered while running from the police and was later booked into the county jail.

A 27-year-old Islander was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in the 4000 block of 89th Avenue S.E. around 2:30 a.m. on July 26. According to the police report, the young man had a blood alcohol level of .161.

A drunk Seattle man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend in a Shorewood Heights Apartment around 1:30 a.m. on July 26. According to the incident report, the 28-year-old suspect kicked, slapped and threw his 26-year-old girlfriend of three years in front of their infant son while inside her apartment.

Burglary

A side window of a home in the 4200 block of 86th Avenue S.E. was found shattered and a locked sliding door was open — although nobody had entered the home — in a burglary attempt that took place sometime between July 15 and July 25. A witness told police that she had possibly seen a suspect on the property.

Auto accidents

A collision occurred in the intersection of 80th Avenue S.E. and 28th Street around 10:30 p.m. on July 25. A 63-year-old Island resident was cited for negligent driving and no injuries were reported at the scene.
