Drugs
A 22-year-old man from Mercer Island and another from Seattle were cited for possessing marijuana after police investigated their vehicle while in the 7700 block of S.E. 22nd Street around 12:40 a.m. on June 6.
Auto accidents
A group of mailboxes in the 3200 block of 84th Avenue S.E. were hit by a blue vehicle between 2:20 and 3:40 p.m. on June 5. Police found a piece of window trim near the accident site.
A collision occurred in a parking lot located on the corner of 80th Avenue S.E. and 27th Street around 10:15 a.m. on June 3.
A collision occurred in curve near Mercerdale Park where 77th Avenue S.E. turns into 32nd Street around 5:25 p.m. on June 7.
Thefts
A motorcycle was stolen from outside a home in the 3200 block of S.E. Lexington Way the night of June 7.
The Mercer Island Beach Club’s wooden front-entrance sign was stolen the night of June 4.
A digital camera was stolen from a car parked in the 5000 block of West Mercer Way the night of May 31.
Arrests
A 25-year-old Issaquah man and 28-year-old California woman were arrested for possessing marijuana after police stopped them while driving westbound on I-90 around 1 a.m. on June 5.
A 22-year-old man from Bonney Lake was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol while heading eastbound on I-90 around 1:50 a.m. on June 8.
A 54-year-old Island man was arrested at the Shell Station on 78th Avenue S.E. in the Town Center for obstructing justice after he argued with a police officer in the middle of a traffic stop around 8:40 p.m. on June 5. According to the incident report, the man drove his car in between the officer’s patrol car and a stopped vehicle and argued with the officer. The officer ordered the man to leave, and later called for a second officer, who found and arrested the man at the nearby gas station.
Forgery
The mother of 25-year-old Islander is suspected of forging a check worth $43,000 to herself and emptying her son’s checking account on June 2. When the victim learned of the withdrawn funds, he notified his bank and told his mother to return the funds or he would call the police. She advised her son to call the police.
Dog bite
A 7-year-old boy was bitten by a leashed dog in the 8400 block of S.E. 68th Street, near the South end fire station, around 5:30 p.m. on June 3. According to the police report, the bite was a nick and superficial.
Mischief
A profane word was scratched on the back of a vehicle parked in the 3200 block of 74th Place S.E., the night of June 1. According to the incident report, the car was also keyed and its tires deflated.
A 16-year-old boy threw a rock through the bathroom window of his father’s house in the 3200 block of 73rd Avenue S.E. around 2 p.m. on June 2 after the locks were changed and the teen’s house key was taken away. According to the incident report, the teen was to come home from school and wait on the front porch for his father to come home, but he through a rock through the window as he tried to get inside the house. Instead, the boy’s mother came from Renton to pick him up.
Graffiti was spray painted in the men’s bathroom at Clarke Beach some time between 9 a.m. May 30 and 10 a.m. on June 1.
