FRAUD: An Islander was contacted by the bank about a $500 withdrawal made from his checking account. The unlawful withdrawal happened at a 7-Eleven in Lynnwood on Monday, Dec. 30.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: An Island resident in the 5000 block of Mercer Way, found his living room window broken with a rock still jammed between the double panes. He believed the rock resembled those from his neighbor’s landscaping.

BURGLARY: An unidentified burglar forced entry into a residence in the 2200 block of 66th Ave S.E. The rear door to the master bedroom was kicked in. The nightstand drawers were raided through, but the burglar fled when the alarm sounded in the early hours of Jan. 1.

THEFT: Around 9:30 a.m., a resident in the 5600 block of Mercer Way reported her USPS package stolen from her front porch. The package contained two cell phones, a Samsung Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Sometime between Jan. 2 and Jan. 6, a building and posts at Mercer Island’s Lid Park were sprayed with graffiti. Graffiti was also found on the WA DOT building. The estimated value of the damages is $500.

ACCIDENT: A vehicle crashed into an unoccupied vehicle parked legally on the westbound side of S.E. 27th St. The offending vehicle had severe damage to its rear.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Between 10 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. the next afternoon, somebody tagged a house under construction in the 3800 block of 76th Ave S.E. A nearby Honey Bucket was also tagged, but the graffiti had been partly washed off.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: The women’s restroom at Homestead Park was also tagged with graffiti over the weekend.

WARRANT ARREST: An Auburn suspect was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license at 11:38 p.m. on Friday.

WARRANT ARREST: A suspect in custody with the Bellevue Police department was picked up for an outstanding warrant with the Mercer Island Police department. The suspect was transported to Issaquah Jail.

THEFT: A Mercer Islander reported his yellow bike with a dog basket on the front stolen from a shared utility room. The bike was estimated at $300.

CAR PROWL: On Dec. 28, around 3:40 a.m. in a five-minute window, two subjects parked their vehicle in the driveway of a property in the 5900 block of S.E. 32nd St. Tools and a car key were taken from the victim’s car.

INFORMATIONAL REPORT: At 1:30 a.m., a lost Seattle driver backed her car into a ditch. The 61-year-old driver did not have a valid drivers license and the vehicle was impounded.

FORGERY: On Oct. 1, a Mercer Island woman mailed a check to her landscaper for payment. She later learned that the landscaper’s mailbox had been broken into and his mail stolen. The check was forged to another payee. Police collected some information about a suspect, believed to live in SeaTac.

THEFT: A Seattle man was charged with theft after getting off the bus at North Mercer Park-and-Ride to grab a bike a friend had told him was “abandoned.” The suspect admitted that he’d never gotten off the bus on Mercer Island before but upon learning that the bike had been there several days and had flat tires, decided to take it for his niece.

THEFT: A Mercer Island business in the 9600 block of S.E. 36th St. had a Mac power cord, iPad charger, iPad and wireless router stolen sometime between Dec. 19 and Jan. 6. There were no signs of forced entry. Loss was estimated to be $535.
