Car vs. bicycle
A Mercer Island man was cited for failing to stay right after he collided with a car while riding his bicycle on the afternoon of Feb. 24. The bicyclist told police that he was riding on the wrong side of the road against traffic on North Mercer Way when he was hit by a vehicle making a right turn from 81st Avenue S.E. onto North Mercer. The cyclist had multiple skin abrasions, according to a police report.
Burglary
Someone stole 22 standard size, national flags from the main hallway at Mercer Island High School, 9100 S.E. 42nd St., an employee reported to police Feb. 22.
Theft suspects arrested
Mercer Island police arrested three suspects for investigation of attempted auto theft and numerous other crimes early on the morning of Feb. 22. Officers were dispatched to help some people trying to move a truck that had gotten stuck. When they arrived, they found two men and a woman in the vicinity of the white 2004 Ford F2. The truck was confirmed as stolen and had a stolen rear license plate. After talking with all three and examining evidence at the scene, officers arrested a 30-year-old Seattle man for investigation of second degree theft, possession of stolen property, forgery, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 19-year-old Des Moines woman was arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession, forgery, second degree theft, possession of stolen property, obstruction and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers arrested a 26-year-old Puyallup man for investigation of drug possession, forgery, second degree theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
Drug arrest
Mercer Island police stopped a blue 1988 Buick in the 9200 block of North Mercer Way Feb. 19 for speeding and crossing a lane divider. The driver was found to be without a valid operating license and driving with a suspended license. After arresting the driver, officers searching the car found marijuana in the backseat center console, and arrested the backseat passenger, who admitted to using marijuana that day, according to a report.
Burglary
Someone entered a home in the 8000 block of S.E. 24th Street through a dog door, causing $50 in damage, and rummaged through many rooms in the home. A kitchen drawer and its contents were stolen, said a police report filed Feb. 18.
