Theft from car

A 17-year-old Mercer Island boy told police Jan. 14 that he parked and locked his black Mazda Miata in the main parking lot at Mercer Island High School, 9100 S.E. 42nd St. with his wallet on the passenger seat. He returned to the car to find the wing window broken out and his wallet gone, according to a report.

Fraud

A 51-year-old Mercer Island man reported that someone took two new credit cards issued in his name and his wife’s name, activated the cards and then withdrew $850 in cash and charged an estimated $10,000 in goods. The cards may have been stolen from the victims’ mail, a report said.

Stolen mail found

Someone who found mail in the roadway between the 7400 block of East Mercer Way and the 8200 block of West Mercer Way turned it in to police on Jan. 14. The mail is believed to have been stolen on Jan. 13, according to a police report

Identity theft

An Island woman told police Jan. 13 that someone is using her husband’s name, their address and their phone number on applications for credit cards, applications for mortgage and loan information and information about educational institutions.

Malicious mischief

Someone drove a vehicle onto the field at Island Crest Park, in the 6000 block of Island Crest Way, damaging several areas of the field and a sprinkler line, according to a police report from Jan. 12. Damage was estimated at $1,600.
