Anna Kristina Preger and Douglas David DiJulio II were married on June 27, 2009, in the 11th century Frötuna kyrka (church) located near Norrtälje, Sweden. The bride is the daughter of Sven and Ulrika Preger, of Norrtälje, Sweden. The groom is the son of Regina and Douglas DiJulio, of Mercer Island. A reception was held on the S/S Norrtälje harbor ship. The couple met in 2000 while the bride was an exchange student at Mercer Island High School. The bride is a graduate of Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden, where she received a Master of Education. The groom is a graduate of the Mercer Island High School Class of 2001. He earned a Bachelor of Science in physics at the University of Washington and a Master of Science in nuclear engineering from North Carolina State University. He is currently a doctoral student in the Nuclear Physics Division in the Department of Physics at Lund University in Sweden, where he is working toward a Ph.D. in nuclear physics. The couple kept their nine-year long distance relationship alive via the Internet, webcams, telephone and travel. The newlyweds reside in Lund, Sweden.
