Traffic offenses
A 36-year-old Mercer Island man was arrested in the 5900 block of W. I-90 for driving westbound on North Mercer Way with a suspended license at 2:50 p.m. on June 20. His vehicle was towed.
Police stopped a vehicle speeding at 52 mph on Island Crest Way and arrested the driver, a 37-year-old Mercer Island woman, at 8:30 a.m. on June 22 in the 8400 block of S.E. 40th Street after finding that she had four outstanding warrants and was driving with a suspended license. Her vehicle was towed.
A 34-year-old Mercer Island man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on June 26 in the 8400 block of S.E. 39th Street for driving with a suspended license, traffic warrants and possessing marijuana.
Malicious mischief
Two teenagers were arrested for malicious mischief and reckless endangerment at 8:45 p.m. on June 20 when they were throwing water balloons at cars on I-90, a police report said. The boys, positioned in the 3200 block of Shorewood Drive, hit a vehicle with a water balloon and shattered its windshield, which caused the driver to swerve and nearly collide with other cars. The driver, a 20-year-old Mercer Island resident, chased the suspects and held them until police arrived. Repair to the vehicle is estimated at $300.
A 39-year-old Mercer Island man found that his car had been keyed on the driver and passenger sides after he had picnicked at Groveland Beach Park in the 7700 block of S.E. 58th Street between 6:20 and 8 p.m. on June 20. The damage totaled $500.
The glass door of an office in the 7800 block of S.E. 30th Street was shattered around 4:45 p.m. on June 24. The reporting party, heard a loud noise and upon investigation found that a glass door had been broken.
A vehicle parked at a residence in the 4200 block of 90th Avenue S.E. after 9 p.m. on June 23 had its rear window smashed, discovered by the owner at 5:45 p.m. on June 24. A witness heard a noise near the vehicle but saw nothing.
A 64-year-old Mercer Island man’s vehicle was keyed when it was parked in the 8300 block of Avalon Drive between 6 and 7 p.m. on June 24. The damage totaled $1,000.
DUIs
At the scene of a traffic collision, a 20-year-old driver was arrested for DUI at 11 p.m. on June 20 in the 7200 block of S.E. 29th Street.
A 57-year-old Seattle woman was reported on suspicion of DUI at Albertsons and arrested at 9 p.m. on June 23 in the 2700 block of 77th Avenue S.E. She gave a false name to police at first, failed FSTs and smelled of alcohol.
A 52-year-old woman from out of state was arrested for DUI after she drove her vehicle into a ditch, with its front end lodged in a stormwater drain at 4:30 a.m. on June 25 in the 4800 block of East Mercer Way. The Cadillac, owned by an 83-year-old Mercer Island man, was impounded.
Drugs
Three male teenagers were arrested at 6:15 a.m. on June 22 in the 4200 block of Boulevard Place after they were found in a van at Franklin Landing with marijuana and a glass pipe.
A 22-year-old Seattle man was found in a park in the 2200 block of West Mercer Way at night on June 23 with marijuana and a glass pipe in his vehicle.
An officer on bicycle patrol found four male teenagers in the woods between the Mercerdale Skate Park and the Recycle Center in the 3200 block of 78th Avenue S.E. just before 6 p.m. on June 28. Three of them were smoking marijuana and were arrested while the fourth was detained, according to the police report.
Suspicious circumstance
A 58-year-old Mercer Island woman from the 9400 block of S.E. 52nd Street paid more than $10,000 to a Seattle computer technician for the recovery of data from several computer hard drives between Feb. 4 and May 30. The technician did not finish the job and has not returned the drives.
Weapons
Paintball guns were taken from two male teenagers who were shooting at Homestead Park in the 8100 block of S.E. 40th Street at 2:30 p.m. on June 26. One teen pointed his air gun at a Mercer Island man with a group of employees nearby.
Arrests
An Everett teenager was arrested with an MIPD warrant at 11:30 p.m. on June 23.
A 35-year-old Renton man was arrested at 5:30 a.m. on June 28 in the 8300 block of S.E. 68th Street for equipment violations, according to the police report.
A 37-year-old Renton man was arrested for a DUI warrant just before noon on June 28 in the 4500 block of East Mercer Way.
Accidents
A 19-year-old male from out of state was charged with negligent driving at 3:15 p.m. on June 26 in the 4300 block of East Mercer Way. The driver estimated that he drove around a turn at 45 mph. The vehicle went off the road and collided into a tree.
A 58-year-old Mercer Island man on a bicycle was hit by a vehicle turning left into the Mercer Island High School parking lot from S.E. 42nd Street at 7:50 a.m. on June 27. An ambulance took the cyclist to Harborview.
Forgery
A woman tried to cash a check with a false driver’s license at the Bank of America on 80th Avenue S.E. around noon on June 28. The suspect fled from the bank.
Car prowl
Six vehicles were prowled in the 4600 block of 86th Avenue S.E. between 9 p.m. on June 24 and 5:20 a.m., June 25. $200 in cash, a wallet and ID were stolen. One vehicle’s window was smashed. Photographs and fingerprints were taken.
Theft
$3,400 worth of wine was stolen from an unlocked shed during the night on June 21 in the 4400 block of 92nd Avenue S.E. The victim heard three knocks outside at 5 a.m.
A construction worker witnessed two teenagers steal two cases of Budlight beer from the South-end QFC at 8:30 p.m. on June 24. They drove off in a green Volvo with tinted windows.
A desktop computer and jewelry were stolen from a home in the 8600 block of North Mercer Way between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on June 26. The burglar broke a second-floor window with a rock and entered by climbing onto the garage roof. More items may have been stolen.
A Rolex watch and flatscreen TV were stolen from a home in the 2800 block of 72nd Avenue S.E. while the resident was gone between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 26. The burglar entered by throwing a rock through a window. Fingerprints and photos were taken.
A Honda Civic was stolen from a parking lot on S.E. 26th Street near the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. between 2 p.m. on June 28 and 10 a.m., June 29. The victim’s daughter had keys to car but said she did not take it.
Found
A set of five keys with QFC and Denali Fitness cards was found in the 6800 block of S.E. 33rd Street and turned into police at 6 p.m. on June 24.
