It’s time to rock on Oct. 21 with the city of Mercer Island and Aljoya’s new event.

The free Rocktober! event tailored for the senior community will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.

John Jensen will discuss the roots of rock and roll at noon and the Soul Searching Band will perform at 1 p.m. Other special guest speakers will include City Manager Jessi Bon and Aljoya’s Larry Almo. An Elvis impersonator is also scheduled to make an appearance.

The event will also include boxed lunches and a root beer garden. Lunch registrations are required three days in advance of the event; call 206-275-7609, course #16566.
