Mercer Island High School seniors Paul Noone and Eden Voss have been honored as November Students of the Month by the Rotary Club of Mercer Island.
Noone, as one of the MIHS DECA co-presidents, helped create and launch the DoMInate Virtually campaign. He helps MIHS students navigate through a year of DECA preparation, competition, service and leadership. He runs meetings, develops curriculum and sets the vision and goals for the year.
“This summer, in late August, in response to the negative reception to remote learning, Paul ‘re-branded’ online learning with an entire, island-wide promotional campaign centered around the DoMInate Virtually learning separately, together slogan,” said MIHS teacher Jen McLellan.
Noone also serves as one of two student representative on the school board, is a member of the National Honor Society and plays varsity baseball for the Islanders.
Voss is the student general manager for the student radio station 889TheBridge and hosts a weekly show, “Garden of Eden.”
“Eden is the most positive spirit and are the perfect student to lead our station in a pandemic year when a positive attitude is everything,” said Joe Bryant, MIHS broadcast media teacher. “Eden is creative on so many platforms — audio, video, graphics, art and music.”
She is president of Amnesty International Club and vice president the Women in STEM club, is a member of National Honor Society and plays ultimate frisbee for MIHS.
The Rotary Club of Mercer Island selects a pair of MIHS seniors as Students of the Month throughout the school year.
