Staff Report
A suspect has been identified from a video depicting a dog being abused on Mercer Island on Nov. 22, according to the Mercer Island Police Department’s Facebook page. A Samoyed pup and the suspect were caught on Ring video.
On Nov. 24, Bellevue Police Department detectives and Regional Animal Services of King County displayed a search warrant and seized the dog from a Bellevue residence, according to the BPD Facebook page and KIRO. The suspect shown in the video — which was widely circulated on social media — is not a Mercer Island resident, MIPD said on Facebook.
MIPD said on Facebook that King County animal control has safely taken possession of the pup, which was seen being kicked and hit on the video. An investigation is in process.
“The pup is in safe hands, visiting a vet and will be held pending the animal cruelty investigation,” reads the BPD Facebook page.
