The Mercer Island School District approved the appointment of former Mercer Island School District principal and administrator, Kathy Morrison, as an interim elementary associate principal serving the elementary schools. Aimee Batliner-Gillette, formally the associate principal, has been assigned as interim principal at West Mercer Elementary. Mrs. Morrison comes out of retirement to rejoin the school district. She has held several posts in Mercer Island as principal at Island Park Elementary, associate principal for all three elementary schools, as well as associate Superintendent of Instructional Services and Director of Learning Services in the central office.
Henterson Carlisle was also approved by the Mercer Island School District’s Board of Directors as a new associate principal for Mercer Island High School. Carlisle was a principal and assistant principal with Seattle Public Schools. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University in economics and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Washington, having graduated from the Danforth program there.
Carlisle began his teaching career with Seattle schools teaching mathematics, reading and science at the middle level. H. He was promoted to Principal at Madison Middle School where he served for four years.

Nathan Beckett, a 2010 graduate of Mercer Island High School, graduated from the California Maritime Academy this spring. He received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and received a 3rd Mate Unlimited license.
