All three Mercer Island School District levies are currently passing, following last week’s special election.

The district had three levies: a capital projects, transportation and general fund levy to help bring money to the school over the next several years.

As of 9:15 a.m., Feb. 15, the general fund levy was passing by 70 percent, the capital projects levy by 65 percent and the transportation levy by 70 percent.

Based on the most recent election results, 7,770 of the 16,198 registered voters on the Island participated in the election. The registered voters number is based on a voter registration count as of Jan. 28.

“I want to thank the board and the citizens committee for working early to create the information and give us ample time to get the information out,” said MISD Superintendent Gary Plano during the Feb. 11 board meeting.

In other election news, the King County Library System levy-lift also passed, with 52 percent in favor. Approximately 200,780 voters of the 647,133 registered in the county voted in the library special election.
