Seeking citizens for Senior Advisory Board

Island residents 65 years or older interested in providing input about the creation of community services and programs that meet the needs of seniors on Mercer Island are encouraged to apply for a position on the Senior Advisory Board.

Island residents 65 years or older interested in providing input about the creation of community services and programs that meet the needs of seniors on Mercer Island are encouraged to apply for a position on the Senior Advisory Board.

This board will study, review, and evaluate senior services and programs and make recommendations to the department directors for Parks and Recreation and Youth and Family Services.

Recommendations will be taken under consideration while final programmatic decisions are ultimately made by the respective departments.

All regular meetings of the Senior Advisory Board shall be held at least quarterly at a time and place determined by the board. Time commitment by board members is approximately 1-2 hours a month, with the option of more hours on an ad hoc basis.

The Board consists of nine members that are legal residents of Mercer Island and are 65 years of age or older. Members are appointed by the Mayor to three-year terms. Applications are due Nov. 30 by 4:30 p.m.
