The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumedinnocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
April 28
Fraud: An Island man in the 2700 block of W. Mercer Way reported at 9:12 a.m. that his identity was used to attempt to open multiple accounts, unsuccessfully, with Capitol One, Verizon and Macy’s. The accounts were blocked or closed.
Identity theft: An Island man in the 9200 block of SE 61st St. said at 12:02 p.m. that a Capitol One credit card was opened with his information.
April 30
Prowling: Three vehicles were unlawfully entered, two by force, in the 9000 block of SE 44th St. at 9:17 a.m. The cars belonged to two Mercer Island men and a Seattle woman. Items were taken from two of the vehicles, including a laptop and glass pipes.
Fraud: An Island man in the 6100 block of 84th Ave. SE said at 2:39 p.m. that he was scammed into sending $500 via Western Union to an unknown person.
May 2
Prowling: An Island man and woman in the 3200 block of 72nd Ave. SE reported that their cars were prowled at 8:41 a.m. The unlocked vehicles had been entered overnight, and various items were taken.
Fraud: An Island woman in the 7600 block of SE 29th St. said at 10:30 a.m. that her credit card number was used to make fraudulent purchases.
Theft: An Island man in the 7800 block of SE 71st St. said at 12:12 p.m. that his tailgate and brake light were stolen, and replaced with a different tailgate.
Burglary: An Island man in the 8200 block of N. Mercer Way said at 1:02 p.m. that someone broke into his rental home. The suspect entered the residence though an unsecured kitchen window, and also broke into a shed and attached garage. Electronics and personal items, including a Mexico passport, were taken.
Prowling: A Seattle man reported a car prowl and theft at 5:12 p.m. in the 7500 block of SE 24th St.
More prowling: A Bellevue woman said her car was broken into at 6:01 p.m. in the 3800 block of E. Mercer Way. Her passenger side window was smashed and her bag, containing her wallet, was stolen.
