City Spring recycling event is March 29

It is time again for the twice-yearly event that allows Islanders to get rid old junk or recyclable items cluttering your basement or garage at the Mercer Island Spring Recycling Event between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Mercer Island boat launch under the East Channel Bridge at 3600 East Mercer Way.

The event is free but there are charges for some items and some items are not accepted. Make sure you check out the flyer on the City website at mercergov.org for a detailed list of items.

Islanders are asked to bring along non-perishable food items or a cash donation to go to the support the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Food Pantry.

Residents can also pick up a rain barrel at a highly discounted rate, just $25 at nearby City Hall, to use in water conservation projects.

April 22 Special Election ballots in the mail April 2

Ballots for the April 22 Special Election that will include a county-wide measure will be mailed next Wednesday. The deadline to register to vote or update voter information by mail or online has passed,

However, voters can register in-person by Monday, April 14. For information go to www.kingcounty.gov/elections.aspx or call the Voter Hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683) to find out how and where to register in-person.
