As political campaigning picks up speed, it is hard not to take note of the bevy of signs scattered over the Island. However, there is also a large number of A-frame signs. There were 51 total all over the Island as of July 25, advertising for a variety of camps and businesses. While there is no official limit to the amount of signs that can be here, citizens are reminded of rules and regulations about them.

Political campaign signs can be a maximum of six square feet and 40 inches high. They require permission of the property owner if placed on private property or parking strips adjacent to a residence. In the public right-of-way, signs must not cause a line of sight problem, traffic safety issue or maintenance issue. Signs must be removed within 48 hours after an election.

A-frame signs can be on the property of a business or in the public right-of-way. They cannot be taller than five feet nor exceed 24 square feet in area, counting both sides of the sign. Signs should only be out during business hours, which vary from business to business. They should be located with 100 feet of the property and may not create traffic hazards, maintenance problems or get in the way of pedestrians. They should be kept maintained and created by a professional graphic designer.
