The city hosted the latest Med Take Back Day on Oct. 28 in the city hall parking lot, with the Mercer Island Police Department collecting five boxes of unused prescriptions totaling 79 pounds.
This is one of the largest local collections yet and helps ensure medications are properly disposed of, preventing potential misuse or abuse, according to the city. The next Mercer Island Med Take Back Day will be held in April 2024.
“We’re grateful for our partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration to help keep our community safe,” the department noted.
