The Mercer Island Community Fund will be sponsoring the upcoming Summer Celebration and Mostly Music in the Park and has contributed a $10,500 grant to the city to help put these events back on the docket.
Summer Celebration will take place on July 9 at Mercerdale and Luther Burbank parks and will feature music, food vendors, fireworks and more. The Mostly Music in the Park dates and information are forthcoming. An amount of $5,500 will go toward Summer Celebration and $5,000 will be tabbed for the music series.
4Culture also awarded the city a $13,225 grant to support the 2022 Shakespeare in the Park and Mostly Music in the Park events. Dates and information are to come.
* The Mercer Island Preschool Association has partnered with the city to hold a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. on June 3 at the Mercer island Community and Events Center, 8236 SE 24th St. People can sign up at www.redcrossblood.org, and type in the code “MercerIsland” in the top right find-a-blood-drive box.
According to the American Red Cross, it is facing its worst national blood shortage in more than a decade.
