The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Jan. 25
PROWLING: Two vehicles parked next to each other in Island Crest Park were reported to have been prowled at 2:20 p.m. The rear windows of the cars were smashed. Purses were taken from the backseat.
Jan. 27
BURGLARY: A vehicle was prowled inside an attached garage in the 4700 block of Forest Ave. SE at 4:21 a.m. Numerous items were taken from inside the vehicle, and all items were recovered except a mailbox key. Items from another prowl at a neighbor’s house were found at the scene.
DOMESTIC: A suspect was arrested for domestic violence, assault and battery in the 9700 block of SE 40th St. at 5:50 a.m. They allegedly assaulted a victim and interfered with the reporting of domestic violence.
FRAUD: A victim in the 3000 block of Island Crest Way said at 9:20 a.m. that their Macy’s account was unlawfully accessed. Two charges were made, for a loss of $189. The victim provided possible suspect information.
THEFT: At 8:06 p.m., a woman reported that her laptop computer was taken from the hood of her car in an unsecured public access parking garage in the 7600 block of SE 27th St.
Jan. 28
MORE THEFT: Subjects trespassed from Rite Aid due to shoplifting were arrested on outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Seattle at 9:22 p.m. in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE. One subject was cited for having drug paraphernalia.
Jan. 29
MORE PROWLING: At 9:39 a.m., a victim reported that their vehicle was prowled while parked in the south Luther Burbank parking lot. A purse was taken from the driver’s seat.
Jan. 30
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Mischief and damage to private property were reported in the 9000 block of W. Shorewood Drive at 9:32 a.m.
WARRANT ARREST: A man was arrested on a warrant after being transferred by Seattle police at 3:30 p.m. He was booked into Issaquah Jail on a $5,000 bail.
THEFT: A suspect reportedly stole at least five bottles of liquor from the south QFC at 11:43 p.m.
Jan. 31
CAR THEFT: A truck and trailer were stolen from the side of the road in the 4600 block of Island Crest Way at 9:45 a.m., with the keys in the ignition. The vehicle was recovered in White Center, and the suspect driver was arrested.
Feb. 4
DUI: Police stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of 76th Ave. SE at 1:13 a.m., and made a DUI arrest.
PROWLING: A victim in the 3000 block of Island Crest Way reported at 12:05 p.m. that her vehicle was prowled in front of her apartment and items were stolen, for a loss of $760.
THEFT: A rear license plate was reported stolen from a victim’s vehicle in the 2900 block of 76th Ave. SE at 6:49 p.m.
DUI: A driver was stopped for multiple traffic infractions in the 3000 block of 78th Ave. SE at 11:10 a.m. Police said there was an obvious odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the driver exhibited effects of being under the influence. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. A search warrant obtained for the driver’s blood was served at Overlake Hospital. The driver was later released from MIPD.
