Girls tennis takes down Interlake
Mercer Island girls tennis earned its second match win in two days, beating Interlake 7-0 Tuesday, April 1 at Interlake High School. Lydia Venditti won over Lina Larson 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7), and Gabby Venditti defeated Isabelle Long 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5). Sarah Sweet beat Melissa Long 6-4, 6-2 and Sammy Sweet won over Shreya Singh 6-0, 6-2. In the doubles matches, Caroline Hamilton and Caroline Dillon defeated Brigette Long and Kate Chen 6-4, 6-1. Melanie Lee and Miji Suhr beat Julia Liu and Vickie Zlatinova 6-1, 7-5, and Catherine Seifert and Fiona Brasfeld won over Sophie Wang and Jane Higa 6-4, 6-3. Next up for Mercer Island tennis will be a nonconference matchup with Garfield at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 at Mercer Island High School.
Boys soccer ties Juanita
Mercer Island boys soccer tied Juanita 1-1 Tuesday at Mercer Island High School. After Juanita struck first in the 20th minute, Sean Bender responded with a goal in the 30th minute. The Islanders will take on KingCo’s first-place Liberty Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Mercer Island High School.
Islander boys lacrosse blanks Ballard
Islander boys lacrosse remained undefeated, shutting out Ballard 19-0 Tuesday night at Ballard High School. Brett Bottomley had 4 goals, 4 assists and 5 ground balls for Mercer Island, while Devlin Conway contributed 2 goals, an assist and 8 ground balls and Jack Counihan had 2 goals, an assist and 4 ground balls for the Islanders. Mercer Island will face Skyline at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at Skyline High School.
