The City of Mercer Island  announced last week that the number of Islanders who have enrolled in the Green Power program with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has met the Green Power Challenge goal of 650.

In recognition, PSE will donate $5,000 toward the installation of a solar array at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center (MICEC).

In addition, any new customers can now earn money for Parent Teacher Student Associations at Island schools.

For every customer signed up through the challenge, an amount of $10 will be donated to an Island school.

A new “stretch goal” has been set at 750 customers. If this goal is achieved by the end of the year, the city will qualify for an additional $5,000 in grant funds to go toward the installation of a solar array at the MICEC.
