Cancer Walk
The Brain Cancer Walk is at 9 a.m., June 28, at the Mercer Island High School track. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The event is to benefit the new Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment at Swedish/Cherry Hill in Seattle. Individuals’ pre-registration fee: $25. Island blood drives
Two blood drives are set for Mercer Island in July. The first is between 1 and 7 p.m., July 2, in the Mercer Island Covenant Church Covenant at 3200 78th Ave. S.E. Another is set for July 21 in Farmers New World Life Building at 3003 77th Ave. S.E. For information, go to www.psbc.org.
Dance Recital

Fishing lessons
The Mercer Island branch of Puget Sound Anglers will be teaching Island youth the tricks of catching local trout and other Lake Washington fish at Luther Burbank Park this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Children ages 8 to 13, accompanied by an adult, will receive instruction and can put their new knowledge into action, fishing at the park.
