Third Thursday Art Walk, “Alive after 5!”: 5:30-8 p.m., Sept. 18. The event will feature a live interactive band, “Show Brazil,” in the U.S. Bank parking lot with a beer garden sponsored by QFC. Other events include a grand reception for Women Painters of Washington at the CCMV.
After-school adventure program
Join Parks & Rec. for some fun-filled, hands-on after-school programs with a Nature Vision Naturalist: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Mondays, in the Community Center Craft Room. Each Monday, explore a nature topic, share a story and enjoy a snack provided by Friends of Luther Burbank Park. Ages 4 to 9.

School Bus Count Week is Sept. 22-26.
• Every student counts. Counts occur each morning during that week.
• This is the district’s only way of getting state allocation funds for transportation.
• All eligible riders — please make a special effort to ride that week, at least in the morning.
Friday Night Lights
Bring the family for food and fun at Mercer Island’s version of Friday Night Lights. The high school football team returns home to play Liberty High School on Friday. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the expanded concession offerings include Dave’s Mesquite Barbecue. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Islanders Marching Band will perform at halftime. See you there!
